    Hey guys I was wondering if you could take a look at this helmet for me. The burning question for me is if the helmet is pre 1946? I would love to have a good example of an Ssh 40 for my shelf, although it would be kept on the other side....away from the stahlhelms Hard for my eyes to make out the ink stamp date, but it reads to me as a 42'

    Just look it over and let me know what you think. And also what a fair market price would be.

    Not sure my friend, the liner aint Russian either, maybe a Warsaw pact lid of some kind. James C is your man for this type of lid!...

    Original Ssh 39 LMZ factory , dated 1940 .

    I agree with Dom. The liner is Gralex, a man made oil clothe used by the Soviets for liners in this style shell. Jim G.

    You live and learn, i've never seen that style liner in an Ssh 39, thanks for the info. Sorry for the dud info!..

    After reading the info on this site they must be fairly rare .: World War Helmets - Casque Ssh 39 :. "This liner was quickly abandoned because considered as unreliable".
