I agree. This also shows that is important to post the complete helmet (or any other item) when looking for opinions. A small fragment is simply not enough. This one is yet another proof.

The helmet is indeed a fifties production. On the war and early post-war copies, the chinstrap is attached with a rivet. In the later fifties models, the chinstrap is attached with stitching.
