This could have been if the original ink brand had not been preserved on the helmet. Putting a new one - copying the ink marks that existed at that time, can significantly increase its "originality". Inverted ink stamps are known. But the ink is too bright to be preserved at 80 years old, the consistency of the ink is too liquid - hence the blurring of the stamp lines.
I already wrote about the shape of the numbers above. The color of the chin strap for such a degree of preservation should have at least a some khaki. The conclusion is the completion of an incomplete source item.

    Hi,

As seens on the picture the liner is highly insulated wich could explain the color of the chistrap which seems of the corect model for a Ssh39.

I agree that the stamps looks very good compare to the remaining of the helmet but we may consider it is mostly dirt. otherwise the helmet seems to be in very good condition.

And for 20 bucks, i guess I may buy one every weeks if not every day

Not worthwhile doing a fake IMO

If i have understood correctly later chinstraps had a metal part on the end. Early ones were just stitched

    Hello Axel,

Some late Ssh39 got this little metal ending but this was abandoned diuring the war for Ssh40.

Your chinstap should be sewed around the buckle.

    Otherwise looks fine for me

The stamps may look strange and I understand Mixer's comment but it is in line with existing stamp and (to be honest) even with no stamp it will not change much the fact the helmet looks very nice

Good, thanks for your opinion. I'm planning to hopefully trade it for a german one and don't want to burn anyone with it
