hello all....I have this nice German cross strap and have a few questions....

    1) can anyone identify the maker mark "UE171" ?

    2) regarding cross straps in general.....I assume since this is brown it is strictly on the political side of things and not wehrmacht related ?

thanks in advance for your input !

The RZM mark denotes political issue, NSDAP or NSKK would be my guess.
There wouldn’t be RZM marks on military issue items.

A UE (Uniformen Effekten) number, usually correlates with the RZM M5 codes. Usually, however not always and RZM M5/171 was allocated to Hermann Sprenger, Iserlohn. This is of course simply a suggestion as to who manufactured some of the metal fittings on what appears to be a high quality and in theory, “political” cross strap. Hope that this information is of some use.

    Regards and best wishes,
