It's been heavily oiled ( which isn't good for any leather ) but it looks OK.
Just check that the stitching isn't rotting - it looks a bit suspect in the photos

Could be original, stitching looks like its loose or been redone. Buckle is a cast fake

    Hello...
The Buckle is a fake (Ben says) ...
The leatherbelt, Produced in 1944 ?? (Modell M44) with marker Manufacturer (realname) not "Reichsbetriebsnummer" (RbNr.), new or loose stitching, separately buckle tongue (Verstellzunge) and (original) aluminum hook, IMHO a kopie (handicraft) = Bastelarbeit ..

I thought the buckle looked like one of those S.H. Co. fakes.

    Hello,
To me the date is rather 1941 than 1944. This said, IMO the stitchings for the hook are postwar done and the aluminium hook is a replacement. In 1941 hooks were made of steel and painted green.
With a fake buckle and an oiled or greased leather, the set is not very sexy...
    Thanks
