I agree with Markus, buckle is a tradesman buckle (this being butchers) there were various around, chimney sweeps etc as for dates, not really sure, hope this helps

Could be postwar...but these are also still being used today. Hard call to say if pre-45. Still....it's a German buckle and it does have its place in a German buckle collection.

It looks a bit new to me. I can get it for $20. I haven't seen many of these trade buckles around so maybe it's worth it? I don't know, what do you all think?
