Default 1894, FN made Brazilian Mauser

    Hello Forum,

I wanted to show you Guys my 1894 Rifle. I havent found much on the Internet about it.
Its an Bolt Action carabine, very similar to the Spainish Mauser, the M93, but apparently with some minor differences. It was made by the Fabrique Nationale Herstal in Belgium, which was an contract maker for Mauser at that time, as far as i know. It has been deactivated, probably in the 70´s by the german BKA (Bundeskriminalamt/Federal Criminal Police Office).
Compared to other South American Mauser Rifles it seems rather uncommon, i´ve even read in an different Forum that only 15.000 of these Guns where made for Brazil by FN, but i´m not sure if that is true. If anyone has additional information about the rifle it would be greatly appreciated!

    Regards,
    Adravor.

What you have there is the 1894 Brazilian long rifle. Not the carbine. Specs are.. 29 inch barrel, chambered in 7mm mauser overall length 48.5 inches and weight is 8.3 pounds.. The carbine version has an 18 inch barrel and the sights only adjust to a max 1400 meters.. They were produced for 5 years so I'm fairly sure more than 15000 were made but can't find the numbers in my sources. They were used in combat to quell the jagunco rebellion of 1897 as well.

I did find production numbers.. 110,000 long rifles and approximately 20,000 carbine were made in a contract signed July 1894 by the Brazilian government.
