Another Colt clone

Article about: Here's another Spanish copy of the Colt model 1873. This one has a five inch barrel and is in .44 Winchester. While not as well made as the genuine Colt, the frame at least is a better desig

    Half cock was dodgy to say the least, hence the saying: 'Going off at half cock' The only safe procedure is the hammer resting on an empty chamber when the pistol is holstered.

    It's a really great looking gun. It would be great to know its history. Do you have any idea where it was between the time it was made in Spain and when you bought it in the UK?

    I have absolutely no idea, although possibly from Mexico - where they were very popular. Build quality is not as good as the genuine Colt, and the action on this example is quite worn. Cylinder lock up is best described as leaving a lot to be desired, but it displays very well.
