Is this an authentic Remington New Model Army?

I would like to ask for yours opinion about this revolver. Is it real? If so, how much is it worth?

I have one of these and I will have to look at mine. I'm thinking mine has some other letter markings.
But at a quick glance I would say its an original

Is the serial number different on the grip than on the barrel?

I'm at work and will have to look at my reference stuff I have when I get home.

Ok I had a look at my reference pages on the 1858 Remington pistol.
It states that:
"The New Model was in production from 1863 to 1875......
Serial numbers range from New Model Army from 19,793 to 147,283.

Now to yours,
The first thing I noticed was the different serial numbers on the left side of the pistol grip frame and the one under the barrel.
They should match.

Barrel looks like 90379 which would put that as post CW made.
BUT the pistol grip frame is 43276.
Now the one I have is serial number 44078 and it was made in 1864.

I don't know what to say about the serial number differences.

I could only surmise that the barrel was damaged or just plain worn out and was replaced post war.

Nice pistol! I agree with Phil on a re-barrel pistol. Common practice back then. The condition is very good otherwise.
