I am thinking about mounting my No.1 MkIII SMLE Lee Enfield and my K98 Mauser on my wall. How should I do this without damaging the rifles? Any ideas are great, so post anything you might know.
Many Thanks

Hi Martin
You could use two large hooks (each) to attach them on the wall...

stupid question, but they need to be padded, right?
Rawlplugs, large long shank, flangeless, cup hooks bent to shape. Cover hooks in padding secured with 'Gaffer tape'. Works well on my re-enforced concrete walls, and in brickwork. Cut off excess hooks after opening them to fit, file smooth, disguise altered hooks with permanent black felt tip pen. Works a treat.

thanks navyman, do you have any pictures?
I have drywall where i would be putting the rifles
I use staircase hand rail brackets with one side removed, made of brass fixed with 3 small screws and rawlplugs.
Hello Zephyr4,
Wish I'd thought of your method, looks very good and you dont need to drill such deep holes in the wall as the brackets have three fixing holes. Pity I've just finished drilling many holes in extremely hard concrete. Perhaps I'll start again!
All best,
navyman.
hi,
firstly Very nice collection Navyman, could you post some more for us to see and great display. I use the hanger that you can buy in hardware stores, they hold up Rakes and spades ect, two pronged with a two inch screw on them. I then put black tape on them as they are usualy red, they seem to do the job and hold a good weight. Im not sure about dry wall though.
Dave.
