I picked up a matching 26th Series, type 38 is pretty good condition. Matching parts from what I could see, including bolt, internals and dust cover. No Sling. I am only guessing at 1940ish production. Narrowing down a production date would be appreciated. All thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Looks nice Rescue and good condition. Great you found it with the "mum" intact. Wish I could help on year made but 40ish could be a good estimate. Yours would be in 6.5 for a Type 38 I believe and the Type 99 was in 7.7 Got to fire one of the latter.

Very nice rifle! According to oldmilitarymarkings.com your type 38 was one of the last 2,000 made by Kokura in 1940. Screenshot form website below.

Very nice. Don't see many 38s. Normally see the type 99. Also looks to be in original war condition. I like seeing original firearms on here. Being one of the last 2000 is pretty special.

    Congrats Rescue.
