Waw, what a nice rifle! :-)
Indeed, nice gift to yourself! Have you run any rounds through her yet?
Thanks, gents!
I haven't shot it yet... Way too freakin' hot here lately. I'm hoping to take her to the range as soon as things cool down.
With that being said, the bore looks great for being almost 100yrs old!
Joe,
I can't be sure but it looks like the rifle has been lightly sanded. The grasping groves and the ridges on the end of the hand guard look rounded off and the cartouches look look somewhat faint. Other wise a nice rifle with a great Kerr sling. Much better than parade rifle you looked at first. Great birthday find.

Very nice Joe
I have a deactivated P14 myself, really nice rifle. More than often overlooked considering the US fielded more of these than 03 Springfields in the first world war I believe! Shame yours won't have seen any action with Captain Mainwaring and his lot
Tom
Thanks for the kind words, gents!
I'm not so sure that it has been sanded. The only cartouche that is faint is the stock cartouche under the SAA which was added after WWI when this rifle was rearsenaled at the San Antonio Arsenal
It has been through a arsenal rebuilt as most rifles have been. It is a very nice example with a mix of Remington and Eddystone parts, I particularly like the four digit Remington receiver.
I believe you will be very pleased when you see how accurate it is., congrats.
Regards,
John
Thanks, John. I know that Eddystone was a subsidiary of Remington... I just wasn't sure if it is normal to see E marked pieces on Remington rifles that have not been rebuilt.
what caliber cardtrigde does it take. i may have a b.day gift for you.deadeye
