No markings to be found on the bipod, this is only thing that comes close.
I really begin to doubt if i have not paid to much for this mg42.
What is your opinion? Is 3500 euro fair price?
Cheers, Bram
That is definitely a postwar bipod, though I can't comment on its origins. It's of a completely different design to wartime ones, though will obviously fit a wartime gun. 3500 euro is about market price for an MG 42 these days, though obviously you'd have to factor in the cost of a replacement stock and bipod, which will be expensive in of itself. All-original guns are almost impossible to find these days, so it's up to you whether you want to buy this one and swap out the parts, or wait for an all-original piece which might never come along.

Thank you for your advice and help. Yes i might not get an all original soon...
So i guess i have to keep an close eye on original parts from now on!
