Very nice find!! And great research As a small administrative correction at the later stage in the war that he joined the FMF 1/9 would be part of the 3rd Marine Division not Brigade. And 2/7 was 1st Marine Division. 1st MarDiv was activated in 1940 and the 1st Marine Brigade deployed to the Pacific in 1942 until the full division was over there during the Guadalcanal campaign when the division absorbed its brigade and was the higher HQ for the duration. Same with the 3rd just a slightly later timeline.
