I would indeed date thise around 1870- 1910 and it defenitly is the French Imperial eagle and logo, nothing to do with free masons.
The reversed "N" is of no importance , it can be as someone stated a reversed picture image, or badly put on after it came lose , ore had to come lose...
A pure and simple French patriotic item.
A post periode made item to commemorate a ideale leader to some, the same thing we see now in a certain way with IV Reich items.

I was thinking the same thing, Stuka. The workmanship looks like something a middle class person would buy as a commemorative item to look fancy on his desk back in the late 19th century.

I think this is the answer, Kris.
Reversed photo, or incorrect logo placement. Also, the 'N' does not
have the same quality as the rest of the metalwork.............
