Help! Helping a friend with info about his relative. Feldpost 39305
Hi,
Helping a friend to find some info about his relative. See photo. Name should be Herbert Schulze. Is he on the Gräbersuche?
Buried at Heldenfriedhof Kniashiza ? Can't find where that is... Slovenia maybe?
Anyone know who signed the letter? Feldpost 39305 says
39305
(28.2.1941-29.7.1941) Heeres-Abnahmestelle Gent
(1.3.1942-7.9.1942) gestrichen, wurde Fp.Nr. 06 332 L
(8.9.1943-22.4.1944) 17.3.1944 Backerei-Kompanie 4 (L)
(25.11.1944-Kriegsende) 6.12.1944 gestrichen
Thanks in advice!
Best regards

You will need a date of birth and possibly death as that is a common name, although only 3 entries are listed with that name as being KIA/MIA in May 1944 and four in June 1944. The chances are that after the war, either his body was removed to a more centralised cemetery set up by the Volksbund or it was discarded and the location long lost to time.
If your friend has extra details (i.e. date and place of birth) then he might want to see if he can obtain a copy of his service record:

This is the Herbert I was searching for.
Anyone know what unit he could have been in?
Or who signed the document?
Thanks!

Hello Per.
I had a search but could find no information about Herbert unfortunately.
The letter is signed by an Oberzahlmeister und Kompanieführer, but the photo is so small and blurred, I can't read the signature properly, but it might say Franz Maier.
What I can say is that Backereikompanie 4 (L) is a Luftwaffe Bakery Company. It looks like it was under 4. Luftwaffen-Felddivision.

It looks like he died about 3km north of Gorodok on the road to Jamolinzi -

Kind regards,
Will.
