Default Unteroffiziere der Artillerie name investigation

Some time ago my son bought a nice cap from a non-commissioned officer of the Artillerie. It has a heavily worn sweatband and the visor was loose. We had this fixed, and a label appeared during this repair. This will most likely contain the owner's name and army details. We would like to investigate this to see if we can link a person to the name. Searching through Google unfortunately does not give us fruitful results. I hope that through this post I can get some tips for directions in which to search best.

The details I was able to read from the label are as follows:
    'Hahra Anton Madl, 2 / A R.63'

I have not been in the army and lack knowledge on how it was organised. Can anyone tell me what these regiment (?) numbers mean? Maybe this can help me search in the right direction online.

Thank you in advance for supporting my quest!

Hi. It means 2nd Battery, Artillery Regiment 63.

You could write to the Bundesarchiv and see if they can find his service record. I have had luck twice with enlisted/NCO ranks. They send you a photocopy, along with an invoice, and then you send payment.

Officer is easier and I've gotten a handful of those, particularly because the U.S. has a copy of German Wehrmacht records at NARA in Maryland.

Yep, my bookmark to Lexikon der Wehrmacht shows heavy useage and wear.

I thought about throwing that in my response but seems you were more focused on the individual soldier.
