"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
From a non-practical side? I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of Gustav.
From a more practical standpoint, I think the 88mm guns in their various forms.
Nitram
The 88mm gun.
Cheers, Ade.

Mg 42
Agreed on the 88mm AA gun.
I also like the Nebelwerfer.
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
That's a big question!
The Stuka during the Blitzkrieg? The Tiger Tank? The V1 and V2 weapons? The Bismarck? The MG34 and MG42? The list could go on and on!
I would have to agree with Ade though. For sheer adaptability and it's use in many different situations from being mounted on the deck of a U-Boot, a tank turret to anti-aircraft to tank busting, you can't really look much further than the 88mm.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Go for the "acht acht" PAK 43, most effective anti-tank gun ever

I would say the MG42, for its sheer surpressing ability, rapid fire rate , and reliability, these things were used in many different forms , a proper piece of machinery,
The 88's were also a great weapon, the sheer power when seen on film is frightening
I would have to say the 88 as well. These things took on so many roles... from AA to AT to AP to mounted on armored vehicles! I'm sure they gave the allies so many problems! I find it very cool that they could go from aiming 90* and firing on aircraft to horizontal and firing on tanks and infantry.
I agree that the MG 34 and 42 were awesome, and I'm sure they tore up a lot of allied troops... but how good were they at putting lead on target? I know the gunners were trained to shoot in short bursts to improve accuracy, but with these weapons was it a literal case of their "bark" being worse than their "bite"?
Although they never used them, what about Sarin, Tabun and Soman ?
