A soldier of both sides
Hello, I have recently been researching a relative of mine, his name is Vladislav Kukulis, he was born on the 16 of June 1923 here in Latvia. He in 1942 served with the 270. Abrenes sapier battalion. On the 19th of February 1943 he was awarded with the Ostwolk medal. He was promptly sent back to Latvia for his good deeds. However he went to the forests and in late 1944 joined the red army, he served as a machine gunner. However he was injured near Ogre in early 1945. And sent away from the front. Could anyone help me find info about his awards, I’m aware that he was awarded with the victory medal of ww2, and a 30th anniversary of the victory over Germany medal . But my grandmother remembers that he had some sort of Star (order of the red star?). Raul

Hello, I think he lived in Baltinava not abrensk, also I think he served in the 130 lsk. And the 355th served in the Far East, while he served right here in Latvia. So I think it’s a different person, but thanks anyways . Raul
