    hi there its a Fairbairn as you say but i dont think this one is too old......they are still being made

    I agree with Lee - I think is quite modern - the sheath is certainly not the pattern issued with WW2 models.

    It isn't WW2. It looks Vietnam era, maybe later private purchase. These are really cool knives either way.

    yeah at least it has a nut on top, the 2 that I have that are ww2 era have brass nut's on top of them, then I bought a new cheap one from a knife catalog the whole top is solid, it has a fake nut on it & is not stamped anywhere, plus it is shorter than the old ones, I throw it at trees & stuff.

    Yes, i also think is new modern made, Look at the multi split rivet on the back of the sheath.

    And original sheath would have had two leather tabs on it, and brown in color.

    And the seam on the handle is not cleaned up at all, that would never have passed muster.

    Still a nice repro dagger.
