Half scale F-S dagger ?

Hi Guys,
I picked this up at a local military show today. It is roughly 7 1/2 inches long (18.5 cm)
and weighs about 75 grams and is all metal construction. It is completely unmarked.
It's really a well built little piece

I'm sure it's not old enough to be any kind of period sales sample but I am hoping
someone may have seen one before.

A Letter opener? From a slightly different angle, at one time shortly after the war, Wilkinson Sword offered a 7 1/2" miniature 1st pattern knife as a letter opener given as a promotional gift when buying certain amounts of their razor blades. The sterile one you show might be a copy in a similar vein produced as a novelty item at a later date by whomsoever.

A letter opener makes sense. When I first looked at it, I thought it
might be a salesman sample but i soon realized it looks way to new for that.

I have seen a couple of smaller versions but not one like this that I can remember. It appears to be a mix of 1st and 2nd patterns. 1st pattern blade with 2nd pattern guard and handle.

Ned was right on.
I sent pictures to Roy Shadbolt at Wilkinsonfscollection.com and he confirmed that
these were offered up as letter openers. Not old or rare or valuable but IMO
still pretty cool.
