After the war many helmets where converted to strainers, there is a video showing the process it is quite fascinating. I have always wanted to find one just for the history of it.

Yes. Not only strainers. But scoops for cleaning out the barn and other things. There were millions of helmets made and Germany was in ruins. This was a cheap way to turn refuse into useable items.

It's a shame to see all those helmets destroyed, but at least they weren't completely put to waste!

I LOVE seeing stuff like this! I goes to show you that in the aftermath of war, people truely did not care about the future some "fallschirmjäger helmet". All they wanted was to move along with their lives. I think some of us collectors forget the human side of our beloved hobby sometimes.

Hi, looks like a good example of a post war converted helmet. They are not cheap in their own right, but would make a far more interesting kitchen object than one from IKEA or alike. Leon.

Word on the street is that these are so unique and certain people desire them now, so they are being reproduced! Be careful on these.

I think this one is a fake and I am sure the same seller had one for sale sometime ago that looked the same , his Russian M36 doesn't look real also

This example looks all wrong to me, the blue enamelling looks too fresh and shiny. The helmet itself has a very odd rim. The same seller is also selling other clearly repro helmets. I would not bid on this myself.
