    Hello All!

I am slowly working my way towards obtaining a full set of basic equipment for a Heer infantryman and am looking to add an M31 Zeltban. This 1939 manufacture Zeltban caught my eye as it has all the buttons still and is in good overall condition. However, I would like additional opinions on originality. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Does it have any maker markings on it?

Hello BlackCat, the dealer said there is, but it is "hard to read". However, I did not see one in any of the pictures.

Yes I agree with knoffhoff that there's no issue with originality (I just have a thing about liking to see makers marks)!

If you don't find a Dated Maker's mark the year of manufacture is probably a best guess by the dealer based on the aluminium grommets.
There might be pale dots in the fabric print on earlier zelts but I can't see from the pictures.
Some of the buttons look zinc rather than aluminium.
It may have been finished after 1939?

Hello Kateri! I received and looked it over, I did not see any pale dots unfortunately, although all the buttons and grommets appear to be aluminum. I did find what I believe to be the remains of an ink stamp for the maker, although there is not much left and it is very faded. From what I have read on this forum, the internet, and a few books I have, this seems to indicate that it is possible pre-war or early war.
