    Default 1942/43 “Coconut Canteen”

    Well I’m sure no one is surprised but I’ve yet again grown my canteen collection. I recently added this rather nice condition coconut canteen to the pile. This example shows most parts made in 1942, the bottle, snap hook, and buckle for the webbing are all marked HRE 42. The green painted aluminum cup is marked HRE 43. The metal ends of the webbing are all marked to LUX. Overall a nice example I got for a decent price.

    Thought I’d add in an update picture of the canteen collection, quite happy with it but still lots of variations and dates I need to complete it.

    Very nice!

    I've always liked the look of these coconut canteens. Seems like the kind of item you would see on the show Rat Patrol!
