Hi
here come the pics for my Essenbehalter. They were hot food containers used to carry prepared food such a soup etc from the field kitchens to the front lines. The blokes how did the carrying were called essentrager.
This example is complete with the inside cannister that is removeable for cleaning, laddle in the inside of the lid and later war webbing straps.....I saw it and thought WOOF!
The cannister is dated 1942 and maker marked CCZ.
The straps are marked gyb 1944.
being greedy i also took the spare straps dated 1944 and marked JME.
cheers
tony

were all essentrager maker marked ?
Hello.
So far all the ones I have seen were marked, eventhough the marking could be difficult to spot because of extensive wear.
