Not got 92E on my list, don’t think this one is known. There is a 92B.

    Hi Steinar1,

I have an MG34/42 ammo belt stamped with maker's code "92E 8 40" and was interested in finding out who this is. However, when I tried looking for info. abut the manufacturer the only thing I came across was mention of "Steyr".

Don't ask me where I found that out as I can't remember! Other than that I drew a blank.

If you find out anything more let me know.

    All the best,
    Paul

Hi Paul - thanks for your reply
Just a question about "840" which I assume is the WaA840 - are you sure that is 840 ?
The reason for asking is that on my Gutt 34 it's hard to read the digits in the WaA code, but now I would believe it's 840.
I´ll let you know if I find out about the manufacturer for 92E.
    Regards Steinar

    I think he means 8.40 (august 1940)

Imho it is WaA 340 (Metallwerke Silberhuette, St. Andreasberg)

    Hi Steinar,

Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer and put "8.40". As Tom has said, this stamp indicates the belt I have was manufactured in August 1940. Likewise, as you indicated, the stamp "9.40" on your starter tab shows it was manufactured in September 1940.

Looking at the WaA stamp, it did initially think it could be WaA 310 but the spacing between the "3" and the "1" looks a bit too big. Like Tom says it could well be WaA 340. At times I've found that it can be tricky reading some of the stamps as they can be worn or badly stamped. A magnifying glass and changing the angle of the lighting can sometimes help in reading the stamps.

    Regards,
    Paul

    Hello Paul & Tom
Yes, it's not always easy to be sure about the markings - I've tried different angles with different lights and cameras as you propose. What's clear is the manufacturer code 92E so let us see if someone come up with some info - I see some marked on internet with 92E, but the manufacturer name is not mentioned.
    Regards
    Steinar
