I got this canteen today, and to my surprise all the parts are marked with the same maker, RFI 38. There are a few little moth holes in the cover, but overall it is in excellent condition. The leather is in good shape, just a little stiff. Is this one too good to be true?
There is also what appears to be a unit marking - looks like '18 ???? Batt' but I can't read it clearly.
    Thanks for input.

Hi Roger, nothing wrong with it.

I cannot quite make out the marking either.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks, Ade. When I saw it I was afraid it had been messed with. It looks in too good a shape to be that old. A little knocked about but quite solid. I hope to be in such good condition when I get that age!

Thanks, y'all. It's my first canteen, and I do like it. Nice to know who made it, too.
