    Looks like a unit marking to me, JMO..
    I'd rather be A "RaD Man than a Mad Man "

    Looks like a maker mark to me, though.
    A. W. Jr. S 41(or 44) (jr will be for Junior and S may be the location, as a lot of cutlery was made in Solingen and the 41(or 44) is obviously the date)

    While I have not observed the posted marking before, my guess would be Anton Wingen Jr. of Solingen.
