    Hard to say. Looks like some upholstery or pillows. These are not wooden boards. Definitely something strange.

    +1 from me, I have this photo of another Flak crew keeping their gas cape pouches on the canisters in a very similar way. The pouches are well visible also in the OP's second picture. All credit to the Finnish SA-Kuva photograph archive!
