    Default famous German Officer's compass

Hi all as per usual I am not certain about this item, as it is most likely a one off piece, please see the few images and the engraved inscription inside naming a highly decorated German officer OTTO WEIDINGER who was awarded the Knights Cross and the Iron Cross. Born on 27 May 1914 and died 10 Jan 1990. I look forward to hearing all opinions. Very strange. I would have expected a German compass to have N S O W, Nord, Sud, Ost and West? This item is clearly made outside of Germany. I would call it a fantasy item.

Thank you very much for that information I just googled a few, to compare and I see that they mostly have the N S O W, and a fantasy piece did enter my mind at a first glance on this before your comment, was posted, but lets see what others might add. Cheers again.

2nd SS Panzer? Not German at all. Clearly a fantasy piece or trinket. NH

The helmet on the front looks nothing like a German helmet, which, I am sure they would insist on.
