It could be a good WWII canister. Several issues - the metal sleeve insert inside the canister is missing. Maybe it never had one. The pull tab looks to have been replaced. Usually they were cloth. But it could be pigskin or some kind of late war Ersatz or Preßtoff material? You can check for a date on the eye shield lid inside the canister or on the spring loaded latch. There are several Gasmaske aficionados here who can help. NH

canister is 100% wartime piece. The only not original piece is leather strap.
