Hi,
I just bought a large Gebirgsjäger fieldgear set, existing out of multiple items.
This piece is described in german as "Troßsack"
Can anyone tell me what it was used for, and what the english name is for it.
Thanks!

Mate,
Its a Kriegsmarine/Bundesmarine sailors bag or 'Seesack', you need to look inside or on the leather for markings. This pattern was used by the post war German Bundesmarine too. If it has NATO part number then it is post war, if it is unmarked or wartime marked then it should be ok.
Regards
Jock
it is unmarked,
I also have the full origin and story of the complete gebirsjager lot in wich this object came.
But i will ask the relatives from who i bought this lot how their granddad who was a gbjager ended up having a kriegsmarine seesack.
Always nice to know some of the history begind the items
