german ammo box?

hello i have in my hands this strange(for me)ammo box.it looks like a half of mg34/42 box.have you seen something like this before?the only marking is the letter ''m'' visible on the front of box

i had searched the web and found only ths type of mg13 magazines boxes they are similiar but different,or maybe this is one of many variants?
