Re: German canteen
After doing some research, i think it would be better to leave as is or repair it. The maker mark is on the strap and cap. it complete except for broken strap...
Which Would be better guys?
Comments would be appreciated

Re: German canteen
Alternative option - get an original carbine hook and roller buckle and have Frank Barone make you a spot on copy. You can save the original strap intact and have a presentable canteen for display. NH

Re: German canteen
good idea, but i would also need to get a cap. I might just do that unless.... some body know where i can get a original set including straps.
Any one know where i can get original canteen straps that include the cap, hook, and roller buckle?
Thanks for all the comments. At least I know some collectors still like it. an i didn't wast $70.
Anybody think this is worth more the $70?
I saw some going for around $200 with out a broken strap. How much do you think it goes down with a broken strap. (not going to sell, it going into my collection)

Re: German canteen
I agree with Ade and qotd, leave it..it has a story and character to it! Who knows, maybe it got torn off in the heat of battle?
Either way, it's a nice piece and congrats!
