Agree with JPhillip on the BW straps ( note the coarse weave compared to the fine weave of the closure webbing ) This is a common addition because the original straps were weak and if surviving are usually tattered or very worn so people replace them with the more sturdy BW web.

yea its just those canisters that make the german gas mask kit look good the gas mask is a bonus
