German leather box, 'cqr.40'

Hi guys,

This is for sale at a local shop. I was curious as to what it was, exactly. The only markings are a 'cqr.40' (a maker that I cannot find) and a waffenamt.

Is the strap a roller buckle or spring loaded type? If it is spring loaded then the pouch is for the small switchboard. If it is the roller buckle type then the pouch is for the phone line regulator. The Vermittlungskaestchen or small switchboard was issued to small phone squads in pairs. The line regulator allowed you to connect different phone line types or was used to eliminate RF near high power lines and such. NH
