German MG ammo can?

No idea what this is. Got it for $20 from a reenactor. No markings I can see. I have a Yugo can and all the shapes are different from this one

Any markings will be on the lid, between the brackets for the carry handle. They might be a little difficult to see through the paint. It looks like a Patronenkasten 34, but the latch is more reminiscent of WWI ammunition boxes.

EDIT: It's a Patronenkasten 15, used with the MG08 machine gun.
