Help with Gas Mask Canister Please!
Help please with this gas mask canister.
I posted this canister on another thread, along with gas mask that came with it. The gas mask was easy to identify and turned out to be an Italian T.35 and not belonging to this canister. The identity of this canister, on the other hand, has eluded me. Not a mark on this canister, that I can find anyway. Looks to be re-painted, as the inside is a slightly different shade of green than the outside, flat not glossy. The metal strap fixtures, on the canister, seem to be a much lighter (smaller) gauge than on all other examples I have seen. The strap was in the canister, along with the improper gas mask. The main strap is a light blue/gray color and appears to have never been used, although it does look quite old. The canister stands 10 inches tall and is just under 5 inches across.
In my search, I ran across this link on German gas masks and canisters.
MP44.nl - German Uniforms and Equipment - Gasmaske
I was not able to identify this canister, through this web site, which leads me to believe it is not German, maybe not even authentic. Possibly a reproduction?

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Russ

Re: Help with Gas Mask Canister Please!
Hi, I believe that this cannister might be Spanish as it certainly looks like the one for the Drager Blanco Gas Mask. These were produced based on German designs, in the same way the Spanish helmets were.
Thanks

Thanks Danny, now I've got some direction to look in to. I know nothing of gas masks or containers, but I'm learning as I go.......
