I don't study these but a very interesting example. Never seen one like this. Any other markings on it? Are you sure it is even German?

At the risk of being shot down in flames it looks Italian rather than German although the locking catch on the side is of German manufacture? Markings would help for sure, any on the neck of the canteen, feldflasche
