Default ID an "H 1939" heavy Dominit Lantern/Lamp?

    Hi Folks -

Haven't been very active lately, lots of reasons but mostly health related. However! We visited friends on Northern NY (near Canada) and I found this really heavy, well-built lamp or lantern. Couldn't resist.

It is a battery operated lantern with a military type paint. German mfg., by DOMINIT. I have found a lot of pictures of WW2 lanterns, but none like this one. Longshot, but maybe the "H" is for HEER? Or, maybe the "H 1939" is an Company ID and nothing more than a construction light. Battery has 3 letter code of "ezy" and is stamped "H 1941" also says "Do not add sulfuriz acid" or something similar.

Any questions, I would be glad to answer. Any ideas or ID much appreciated.

    Thanks for looking!

Have you investigated mining-related lights ? that bracket on the back might be to mount the lantern on an underground mine car.

Whatever the application, it is very stoutly built.
