identification of strap

Article about: Hi folks! My father in law saved this one from the trash. It must be Wehrmacht but I have no clue what it could have been used for specifically, as it is sewn together in such a funny way. T

    Hi folks!

    My father in law saved this one from the trash.
    It must be Wehrmacht but I have no clue what it could have been used for specifically, as it is sewn together in such a funny way.
    To me it looks like a harness for a dog. But I might be completely off.
    Any thoughts?

    Hello,
    They are carrying straps for the gas mask canister that have been postwar "reworked"....
    May be you're right, why not a harness for a dog

    The maker "ebd" Fatra, AG, Gummiwaren/Verpackungen made lanyards, fangriemen. So could this be related to something other than a gasmaske?
