F.W Kampmann of Schmalkalden in Thüringen (likely a derivative) did make tools during the TR era with the ordnance letter code of GAY. If you see a small stamp anywhere on it with GAY and two digita for the year then it could be wartime. But Kampann were trading for a while after the war so I think it is likely post war.
