MG-34 Ammunition Drum
Hello!
I've found a gentleman who has an MG-34 Ammunition drum. He picked it up from an antique shop in Tallinn, Estonia and wants to sell it for 150 USD. It is marked "WC 43".
I wanted to verify it's authenticity before buying and ask if this is a fair price - It seems a bit steep to me!

Re: MG-34 Ammunition Drum
Welcome to the forum!
It is original.
Sorry I cannot advise on value.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: MG-34 Ammunition Drum
Thanks so much Ade!
I suppose the value would be based on the rarity/condition of the drum. Any idea how often people come across these?
In return: In the next few days I'll try to post some nice pictures of my German belt. There's a good short story to go with it.

Re: MG-34 Ammunition Drum
Hello,
Due to its condition, i would advice you not to buy this MG drum for $150.
Thanks

Re: MG-34 Ammunition Drum
I agree with the others. It's a very common piece and over priced for it's condition.

Thank all of you for replying!
Would you say that $50 is a more appropriate price?

Re: MG-34 Ammunition Drum
The 'wc' mark gives me pause- by October 1944, the Heereswaffenamt had only 'issued' maker codes up to 'ozz' so 'wc' in 1943 doesn't make any sense to me...
Edit- that was from Pawlas' reprint of the original Heereswaffenamt book of 1944, but just checking elsewhere, someone says 'wc' was HASAG Muselwitz Plant, Thuringia; apparently it appears on some casings, so I suppose a drum magazine isn't that far away from actual munitions metal bits...
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

Re: MG-34 Ammunition Drum
The gentleman with the drum gave me this explanation:
"WC is the code for the manufacturer ' Hugo Schneider AG in Meuselwitz/Thueringen Germany"
