Hi
Thank you for your id
Most people call these mine warning flags but originally they were for gas warning. Perhaps used for both, try searching for other threads on them.
Regards,
Jerry
Whatever its just an opinion.
For gas alert, you put it in a bag with a yellow ribbon, you have also a larger flag square.

Correct, these are incorrectly called mine flag, but are for indicating a gas contaminated area..., so these have nothing to do with mines !!

Hello,
Official texts say that these flags had to be used by Z teams in order to create safe corridors for troops in movement within gas contaminated areas...
Thanks

I found this link yesterday, they call them mine markers:
Wehrmacht
German World War II Flag-type Mine Markers (Item WEHR 25-2)
DESCRIPTION: Here is a complete set of German minefield markers consisting of 16 individual flag markers. Little flags suspend from a heavy-gauge metal staff. They are all contained in a carry case with strap for wearing that has a pocket for the string. This is pulled after setting the mines. Each of the staff portions of the individual flag has two tubelike attachments where the string is fed through. When the complete minefield is laid and each mine is set in place with a flag marking each one, then the mine engineer (Pioneer) pulls the string and all the flags are drawn in. Each flag device is 20 inches long and the little skull pennants are nearly 5 inches long. They were manufactured in a strong cotton material and were printed with black waterproof ink. These pieces are quite rare and the prices are really high on individual pieces when found. Go to gunbroker.com and you may still see one (just one!) piece offered in its Auction with an estimate of $160-270. We offer this set, not for $2,720 (and that is what 16 would bring according to the above estimate). No, we are offering the entire set with carry case for the price seen below.
