Still trying to track down what this is. Looks like it was hinged and numbering strikes me as German. Any ideas?

Agreed. Never seen anything like it. More than drinking/cooking given numbers. As you say, vehicle .... or fuze?

The numbers I think would refer to inspection or calibration. It reminds me of a cover for valves, so more an electrical/mechanical part rather than a drinking cup.

Think you are right - someone suggested cover for Condenser Valve but I've had no luck in getting an ID ...... at the same site I found remains of a Wehrmact Telfunken headset which only managed to ID yesterday so ..... progress but slow!! Thanks.
