The Brotbeutel was delivered with a carrying strap, also made of cloth.
In 1943, the issue of this strap was discontinued for some branches of the army.
below you can see four straps that are quite representative of the production
Prewar and early war straps are thick and include stitchings on their length
From left to right, prewar example, early war example, middle to late war example and tropical....

2 that I can contribute. The first is made of a thick and rough material similar to that found on MP40 magazine Pouches. The second has the soldiers name on the strap and greenish coloured leather parts indicating an earlier manufacture. Kind regards, Colin.
Hello,
Thanks Colin for taking the time to post your examples, they're nice....
As there's not a lot of people who are in a hurry to post their examples, i thought that i might complete this dedicated thread with a photo showing the Brotbeutel with some of its possible contents. Later today, i'll post another photo that will show the Brotbeutel with the other pieces of equipment that form the basic WWII german assault pack : the SturmgepƤck 38
Thanks

Thank you JP for taking the time to post this. Great examples for future reference
David
Hello again,
Thanks David, it's appreciated
And as mentioned in my previous post, here's the Brotbeutel with its friends, all together forming the SturmgepƤck 38
I did not strap the Gasplane pouch to the canister, you all know how it looks like i guess...and the canteen is retained on the left D-ring of the Brotbeutel per regulation for the foot soldier
Thanks
