Short Gas Mask/ Cannister,named

Hey guys! I'm so happy right now because i just came back from my Great Uncle who was a Hitler Youth during the war. He has sooo much cool stuff! He gave me this and a couple other things I'll post in a moment. I love this gas mask.The paint is in almost mint cond and the mask looks brand new. It has the name,"filipp-S" hand written and one machined patch on three different places, the bottom of the can, the strap, and the filter. There's also what looks like his serial number.Under the lid there is a compartment w/ six extra lenses the oldest dated 1937 and the later 1942.The date on the mask is 39.

Hi Dean,
you've got one lovely,named,matching set dude!Our friends specializing in Feldpost (I think Ade's one of them) could easily tell you if one of the numbers is Herr Filipp's Feldpost nummer....in this case his story could be traced!

Hi Dean, the number on the strap is his feldpost number:

und Marine-Nachrichten-Offizier Vlissingen.

So you can see he was a member of the KM serving in Southern Holland.

It is a magnificent Kriegsmarine Gasmask set, congrats...

IMO it is worth to complete the set with an original carrying strap.
