Today I got in the mail my first K98 Ammo pouch. It is in outstanding condition, with everything present inside and out. There is no makers mark, but there is a soldiers name on the inner "flap" of the middle box.

I love these personalized field gear items, much better than the mint stuff to me. Nice find. Normally these early ones do have a makers mark, is there remnants of one?

Nice item, makers stamp is usually on the rear of the middle pouch.

No makers mark. Are you sure it's early? I believe mine is late... a bit too late. Mine has black thread to sew it up, and all the ones I've seen online used white thread.

I was judging by the front of course that is all that is shown.
The d ring on the back and whether the back was originally brown leather, will tell us more.

From my understanding, this might be either a reissued pouch, or one that was made just after the war for the Volkspolezei. The post war VP ones are actually more rare than the war time ones.

Yes, it does have them. I use rawhide strips to make knives, so I should know how it looks.

Ok, then I don't think its post war. As the leather aged ( even during the war ) the rawhide stiffened up and I have read that many soldiers cut them out.
Removing the k98 clips was easier without them and also "other things" were stored in them and the strips just got in the way. ( gloved hands made things worse of course )
