They do - but then again so do the "antiqued" signs you can buy online for petroleum companies, advertising and car brands of yesteryear.

To echo Dan, I'd be very suspicious of any examples of these, as they are so easily faked.
These specific examples don't look right to me, the pattern of wear seems very uniform. The red of the stamps also seems quite vivid for something which would have been exposed to all weathers during its service life and then should have spent seven decades languishing wherever. A better 'photo of the stamps might also help for one of the more expert people on here to say whether it is an authentic type in this application.

to get a front and rear plate same number ,very suspect.
In their favor is that I've never heard of anyone making repros of the smaller motorcycle lisc plates.
If anyone is I's sure like to get a set made for my ruskie Dnepr copy of the BMW R 71.

Doesn't have to be. It could explain the good condition of the plate. I mean last year the father (88 years old) of one of my colleagues died. They found a chest with WWII guns and other world war pieces (stengun + luger) in his garage... perfect condition. He never told anyone he had those stored...and its illigal to have guns in the netherlands hehe..
But sanmilc do you own these plates now or?
