Look at this Wehrmacht bookcase.

On back side is "HU" (Heeres unterkunft) and "M.St.V. Memel" (now Klaipeda, Lithuania).

What means "M.St.V." ?

M.St.V may be - Militär Strafvollstreckung Vorschrift = Army regulations for the execution for disciplinary punishment/Military Penal Enforcement Regulation.

Sounds a good option Willmore, my first thought was Mannschafts Stammlager V but I don't think such a camp number existed in or near Memel. A nice find.

I just stumbled upon ‘M.St.A. (Marine Stamm Abteilung)’.
Cannot imagine what M.St.V. might be, but I suppose the Navy connection is a possible (although I would expect to see a big M under that Adler - and the H.U. pretty much rules it out, too).

STV stands for Stützpunkt Verwaltung. I have some Kriegsmarine furniture, branded with an eagle with swastika, the letter M and STV and another letter depending the location. So for example M.ST.V.H: for Hamburg or M.ST.V.B for Bremen. My guess that the letter M is for the location Memel.

The closet looks civil made to me. But correct to the time period.
